LRI Fire Patrol App in collaboration with touch
Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) developed a great partnership with touch for years now, and this partnership grew from reforestation projects to fire prevention awareness activities and much more.
This year, on May 13, 2024, LRI proudly renewed this partnership with touch, Lebanon’s leading mobile and data telecommunications company for this year's fire prevention campaign. This collaboration marks the first of its kind between LRI, a key environmental organization, and touch, aimed at amplifying fire safety awareness across the country.
LRI leverages touch’s extensive digital tools and social media platforms to enhance the reach and impact of LRI’s ongoing fire prevention efforts. The campaign, which has been aligned with the Ministry of Environment's #حريق_بالناقص initiative over the past two years, integrates social media posts, awareness activities, and on-ground preparedness days involving forestry work and field activities.
A significant feature of this year’s campaign is the promotion of the Fire Patrol App, that incorporates the Fire Lab early warning index developed by the University of Balamand (UOB) to predict fire risk on local level with 1 week ahead. This App is crucial for broadcasting fire risk notification and will be a key tool in LRI’s strategy to engage and educate the community about the importance of fire prevention. In collaboration with the Nahnoo Volunteers Platform, youth from all over Lebanon will be called to action to encourage their local communities to download and contribute to creating fire awareness content for their villages, and the most creative ones are published on social media.
Moreover, this partnership will focus on the maintenance and protection of four forests planted by touch in collaboration with LRI which started in 2016, in the sites of Ehmej, Tannourine, Qaraoun and Aitanit. A specific call for prevention activities will invite volunteers to participate in these vital efforts, ensuring the longevity and health of these green spaces.
